Abandon Ship!
As posted by my arch nemesis, the Urban Locust, a certain long distance game of Battleship has been waged over the last 2+ years. Well, dear readers, I regretfully say that this is the end of your heroic captain for I have met my doom at last! As you can see on my previously classified radar board below, I have not only been SUNK and DEFEATED: I have been utterly EMBARASSED by such a large margin of victory for my opponent who, according to intelligence, has never won Battleship before! I could cry foul and claim illegal assistance or convenient manipulation of ship positions but to what use? Better to take my defeat graciously and look forward to my new life living with the fishes. Beware my dastardly friend: for what vengeful plots may arise during my deep-sea sabattical, only your now gloating command will feel the wrath!

Added on June 23rd, 2004 at 9:05 pmTis true, this is my first Battleship victory ever! When I was a kid, I always put my tiny ship in the same spot, because I liked it there. However, my opponent mother quickly caught on and always crushed me. Admittedly, I did have a moment of pure glee when I learned of the aforementioned defeat. I think most of it was for the fact that we actually finished this game! And to think how long it would have taken if we had played the method where you have 5 guesses, and your opponent tells you how many are hits, but not which ones. Maybe next time?

Added on June 25th, 2004 at 12:44 pmHi Scott, this is pedestriansaga’s little sis. I’ve enjoyed hearing about your epic battle, and even if you were defeated, I still must congratulate you both for one of the most creative ways of keeping in touch I’ve ever heard of!

Added on June 28th, 2004 at 5:52 pmI still can’t BELIEVE my complete and utter bad luck. Nor can I believe Urban Locust’s rediculously good luck! At least for me, I sure hope this doesn’t indicate a longer term trend in the rest of my life.
